I read this article and here is my note.
The evaluation of N-11 countries is based on GES. The GES measures 13 components: inflation, government deficit, external debt, investment, openness, schooling, life expectancy, political stability, rule of law, corruption, PCs, telephones and Internet.
First, the N-11 average points have already exceeded the BRICs average. As noted by GS, the GES does not capture all aspects of a country's performance. However, it is strange that the GES points for N-11 are more than those of BRICs while the GDP of N-11 is less than that of BRICs.
Second, the way of choosing N-11 is disputable. First, the GES of Korea is too high compared with other N-11 countries. I think that Korea should be included in the N-11 countries but located between BRICs and N-11. Second, I also wonder why the South Africa is not included in the N-11. South Africa has a good possibility of their increasing their economies. When the FIFA world cup is held in South Africa in 2010, much foreign currency will flow into South Africa.
